Owambe Saturday
Privacy notice
Last updated 9 October 2026
We keep as little about you as we can. You play without an account, so we never ask for your real name, phone number or photos. We don't use advertising trackers and we never sell your data. You can download or delete your data at any time on the help page.
1. Who we are
Owambe Saturday is run by BlackGemera Studios Limited, a company registered in Nigeria with RC number 9924497, of Plot 13 Alimini Street, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria ("we", "us"). We decide how your data is used, so we are the data controller under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. For anything about your data, send us a message on the help page and choose "My data", or email owambesaturday67@gmail.com.
2. What we collect and why
- Your player. When you tap "Get my guest type", we create a player with a random ID and a secret code. The code is saved in your browser so the game knows you next time. We only keep a scrambled copy of it. We also keep your guest type and status, the name you choose for the leaderboard, your parties, choices and scores, and your Gold and card themes. Why: to run the game you asked to play.
- A scrambled network address. When a new player, booking or message is created, we keep a one-way scrambled code made from your network (IP) address. It lets us stop one network creating hundreds of players. We can't turn it back into your address, and we delete it after 7 days. Why: to keep the game fair and secure, which is our legitimate interest.
- When you buy something. Your email (for your receipt), what you bought, the price and the Paystack payment reference. You type your card or bank details into Paystack, not into our game, so we never see them. Why: to complete your purchase, and because the law makes us keep financial records.
- When you message us. Your email, your message, any payment reference you add, and your player ID if you have a player on that phone, so we can find your payment. Why: to answer you.
- When a brand books a sponsor slot. The contact person's name, email and phone, and the brand name, banner line, song details or logo they send. Why: to deliver the sponsorship they paid for.
We don't use advertising trackers or analytics cookies, and we don't sell or rent anyone's data. We don't access your contacts, photos or location. Sponsors never receive player data. They only see totals, like how many parties were played in their week and how many players picked their item.
3. What's stored on your phone
We don't use cookies. The game saves a few things in your browser's storage: your player code, the email you typed for receipts, whether you've seen your guest type, and your settings. If you clear your browser data, these are removed and you lose access to your player, because there are no logins. Download your data first if you want a copy.
4. Who else handles your data
- Cloudflare hosts the game and its database and protects it from attacks. Every visit passes through Cloudflare, which sees your IP address.
- Paystack takes payments. Paystack collects your payment details and runs its own checks under its own privacy policy.
- Google Fonts supplies the game's lettering. Your browser downloads the fonts from Google, which sees your IP address.
- Other players see the name you choose, your guest type, your party and your best score on that week's leaderboard.
- Authorities, only when Nigerian law requires us to share something.
5. Where your data is stored
Our database is hosted by Cloudflare in Western Europe, and Cloudflare's network runs around the world, so your data is handled outside Nigeria. The Nigeria Data Protection Act allows this when it's needed to provide a service you asked for. Cloudflare, Paystack and Google protect the data they handle under their own data protection terms.
6. How long we keep it
A clean-up runs automatically every day to apply these periods.
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Your player, parties, scores, Gold and themes | Until you delete them, or 2 years after your last party |
| Scrambled network address | 7 days |
| Payments you started but didn't finish | 30 days |
| Completed payments and sponsor bookings | 6 years, because tax law requires it. If you delete your player, these are kept but no longer linked to it. |
| Help messages and brand enquiries | 2 years |
| Sponsor logos | 30 days after a refund, or about a year after booking |
7. Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you can:
- get a copy of your data. Download my data gives it to you straight away, as a standard file you can take elsewhere;
- ask us to correct it;
- delete it with Delete my player, or ask us to;
- object to how we use it, or ask us to limit it;
- withdraw your consent where we rely on it;
- complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission at ndpc.gov.ng.
Send requests through the help page or by email to owambesaturday67@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days at the latest, and usually much sooner.
8. Children
Owambe Saturday isn't meant for children under 13. If you're 13 to 17, ask a parent or guardian before you play, and you need their permission to buy anything. The game never asks for a real name, age, phone number or photo. A parent or guardian can ask us to delete a child's player through the help page.
9. Keeping it safe
Secret codes are stored scrambled, every connection is encrypted, payments go through Paystack, and only our company can open the admin page, which needs a long secret key. If a breach puts your data at risk, we will tell the Nigeria Data Protection Commission and, where the law requires, you.
10. Changes
If we change this notice, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes, we'll also show a note in the game.
